About Lab

Welcome to the
SNU MPLAB (Mobility Powertrain & Soil-Machine Systems Laboratory)

SNU MPLAB was re-established on August 2024, succeeding OREDLAB, which was established in the Department of Biosystems Engineering, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Seoul National University in Republic of Korea, on March 2017.

MPLAB conducts fundamental research related to design & analysis of various types of components or mechanisms(specially, gears & bearings) for mobility including passenger vehicle, military vehicles(helicopter, tank), construction equipments and agricultural machines to enhance their functional performance, service life and reliability. The research efforts have been focused on design & analysis of gear systems(NVH, efficiency, endurance and light-weight of gearboxes & transmissions), noise & vibration analysis, soil & machine interactions, and simulations for dynamic behavior prediction of various mobility.

The Laboratory programs are basically designed to provide graduate students with opportunity to study and research in the following fields that are closely-related to the industry:

    • Design & Analysis of Mobility Powertrain (Component & Sub-system including Gear, Bearing, Shaft, Clutch)
    • Control System & Algorithm of Electrical Motor, Transmission and Suspension, MILS/SILS/HILS
    • Systema Noise and Vibration Analysis (Modal Analysis, TPA & Structure-borne Noise)
    • Analysis of Wheel/track & Soil Interaction and Vehicle Behavior Prediction in Off-road Driving Condition
